What makes Latitude Tents the best Roof Tent brand?
Latitude Tents was founded in 2000 after founder, Charlie, learned the hard way that not all roof tents are built the same. One soggy camping trip later, he decided there had to be a better solution.
With a background in product and industrial design, Charlie set out to create a roof tent that could genuinely handle the conditions we face in the UK—because let’s be honest, perfect weather isn’t guaranteed, all while making sure it was easy and intuitive to use and super comfortable.
The result was the Latitude Pioneer, now our most popular model and best seller to this day.
Since then, this mindset has grown both our team and our product range. The same perseverance needed to create the Pioneer model has manifested itself in our Pioneer XL, Scout and Explorer roof tents. Each here to serve a purpose, without compromise.
So what makes Latitude Tents the best?
✅ - The best quality products
✅ - Top notch customer support and care
✅ - A genuine real-life connection with our products and customers
1. The Best Quality Products
Is there more than one type of roof tent out there? Yes. Does this concern us? Absolutely not.
In fact, we love competition and encourage comparison. We are confident in our products and are happy to be compared to any others out there on product quality, build quality, material quality and any other metric. But this doesn’t explain why, we’ll do this below.
Materials
We know your roof tent will be up against all conditions, especially here in the UK. That's why we hand-picked the materials with which it's built, so you can explore whatever the weather.
All of our roof tents' main bodies are made from industry-leading 320g rip-stop poly-cotton, with a waterproof & UV-resistant coating. All edges are double-stitched and have a silicone sealant backing for added protection. All windows come with mosquito netting to keep all insects out, and we use YKK zippers.
The rainfly is made from Oxford polyester, and the heavy-duty travel cover from 550g PVC. Hardware and hinges are made from 304-grade stainless steel, whilst the tents tubular framework is made using robust yet lightweight 25mm aluminium tubing.
All carefully assembled, this makes a Latitude roof tent the best option for all conditions.
Research & Development
We stand by our roof tents and awnings through thick or thin, rain or shine. And we’re firm believers that there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad equipment. So with this in mind, we always make sure that our products are a true representation of this.
We start from the ground up, making sure each aspect has been meticulously thought about. All of our products go through rigorous real-life testing here in the UK. And we don’t just mean sunny trips to the seaside when it suits. We make sure we are out in gale force winds, freezing temperatures and sideways rain, to ensure everything will live up to expectations when you are in the same environments. We do take the odd sunny seaside trip too! Our roof tents are also designed for when things get hot, with great ventilation and materials that can stand hotter climates and heavy UV exposure.
Size & Comfort
One of the main reasons to choose a roof tent is the comfort and convenience! So why ever compromise?
Our range of roof tents is here for comfort, not compromise. With the Explorer and Scout sleeping 2 adults, the Pioneer 2-3 and the Pioneer XL 4! Whatever your desired space, there will be a Latitude Tent to suit.
We pride ourselves on a comfy night’s sleep, with all roof tents coming with a 60mm high-density foam mattress. It’s not uncommon for customers to tell us they sleep better in their Latitude Tent than they do at home! And don’t be fooled by thicker mattresses. The comfort comes down to the quality and density of the foam used. If you ever get a chance to lie down in one, try it out, let us know what you think. Or visit our HQ and try them out here.

Come join the fun, make new memories, and let’s make this year the most adventurous one yet!
See what trips are on the horizon on our events page.
Do You Use Them Yourself?
One of the most common questions we get! And the answer is usually either yes we were camping last weekend, or yes were going camping next weekend!
All members of our team are well-trained through a passion and enjoyment of getting to use a roof tent and awning.
We wouldn’t ever want to use a product we didn’t have complete faith in, let alone sell one.
